1. Responsible for planning and implementing daily classroom lesson plans by ensuring the safety of the children in accordance with Sparkles! policies and procedures and all relevant regulations.*
2. Implements developmentally appropriate early childcare and preschool programs for young children.*
3. Prepares weekly lesson plans to include age and stage appropriate activities that meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children that are culturally and linguistically diverse that support the curriculum.*
4. Monitors and observes the daily operation of the classroom for safety, positive interaction, and productive educational activity.*
5. Adheres to all established policies, procedures, regulations, and code ethics.*
6. Arranges classroom environment in accordance to program goals and schedules activities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving.*
7. Completes on-going monitoring and assessments of children’s development as required maintain accurate documentation in children's files.*
8. Meets with parents during the year as required.*
9. Oversees performance and provides ongoing training of assistant teachers to contribute to curriculum planning and classroom management.*
10. Addresses, monitors, and documents issues, concerns and problems of each individual child discuss with the classroom teachers and center administration.*
11. Maintains accurate documentation as applicable to assigned classroom in accordance to program policies.*
12. Establishes and maintains positive relationships and communicates effectively with center administration and co-workers.*

13. Develops and maintains a positive and confidential relationship with the parents of each child including thorough communication about the program and each child’s progress.*
14. Encourages parent interest and involvement in the program.*
15. Reports any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate party for follow through.*
16. Participates in required training programs, conference, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.*
17. Serves snacks and lunches provided by the center or parents.*
18. Monitors dietary requirements for individual children as needed.*
19. Shares pertinent information, suggestions, or ideas with co-workers on a regular basis.*
20. Conducts light cleaning duties such as gathering trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing toys and table tops, and other general similar in nature.
21. Conducts diapering and toileting by adhering to appropriate procedures at all times.
22. Administers medication to children within medication administration training guidelines as needed.
23. Conducts opening and closing procedures as needed.
24. Answers the phones and relays messages to the center administration.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years related experience and/or training in a childcare setting is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
