The National Ability Center (NAC) is a non-profit organization located in Park City, Utah that provides adaptive programing opportunities to over 7,000 individuals with disabilities and their families annually. The NAC is seeking a passionate and experienced water sports professional to join our Recreation and Adventure team. The Recreation and Adventure department consists of a large and dynamic team that works together to provide a variety of different programs which includes adaptive water skiing, wake boarding and wake surfing at the Jordanelle Reservoir. Water sports programs are offered to both individuals and groups who may be participating one time or returning on a weekly, monthly or annual basis. Our boat drivers are responsible for driving our program boat and/or jet-skis during water sports programs, supporting with instruction and spotting when not driving, trailering the boat and/or jet-skis, program delivery, excellent customer service, and post program wrap up of our water sports programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver premier recreational and adventure programing to folks of all abilities through safe and effective boat or jet-ski driving, adjusting driving techniques as needed for water-skiing, wakesurfing, and wakeboarding
- Maintain a high level of risk management and follow safe boating practices at all times.
- Work cohesively on a team with other staff, interns and volunteers
- Driving a rescue jet-ski as needed on adaptive water-ski lessons
- Trailering and launching the boat and/or jet-skis to and from the storage location and pre and post programs
- Providing quality instruction to adaptive water skiers, wake surfers, and wake boarders
- Maintain boat and jet skis in clean and working order, including checking oil and filling with gas
- Conduct pre and post program boat and jet-ski inspections, as well as contribute to set up of program equipment
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum age 21 years old
- Current First Responder & CPR certification (at minimum); or ability to obtain before start date
- Minimum 80 hours of personal or professional boat driving experience, specifically for water skiing and/or wake surfing
- Ability to take and pass the Utah Boating Safety course prior to May 15
- Ability to pass a background check
- Attend all required trainings starting in late May/early June in Park City, UT
Preferred Skills
- Professional boat driving experience
- Experience working with people with disabilities
- Group management and/or behavior management experience
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record
Job Details
- Boating schedule is Monday through Friday and hours are based on registrations. Staff days of work are set at the start of the season
Summer season runs from May through September
