Job Description:

The Manager, Events is a regular full-time position reporting to the Director, Events. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional tasked with managing overall event operations to include but not limited to event logistics and execution, team registration, budget management, and customer service. This position assists the Director of Event in the management the Junior Girls’ division of the event department to include managing and executing the Girls’ National Championships and serving as the Event Director; overseeing Girls’ Qualifiers and manage bid allocations; coordinating and executing the Girls’ Qualifiers owned by the corporation.  This position requires excellent organization, communication, planning, and coordination skills. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload, and propose and implement policies and procedures that are beneficial to a specific USAV population. This position answers non-routine correspondence exercising the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Cross departmental support is a general expectation of all USAV employees. Additional hours may be required to include nights, weekends, and holidays. The position is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 



Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Assist the Director in determining the dates and sites for future Championship Events to include contract negotiation for the facility, hotels, and LOC.
  • Manages all pre-event aspects of USAV Indoor Girls’ Junior National Championship, and USAV Girls’ Qualifiers (Show Me and Sunshine), including, but not limited to registering and tracking teams in an event database, conducting site visits, finding and booking event vendors, creating contracts, coordinating Independent Contractors, and other duties as assigned.
  • Manages the creation, edit, and distribute pre-tournament information and materials; collect and verify team registrations; compile participant and event information for the Girls’ Junior National Championships and related events.
  • Ensure contract terms among equipment logistics and Independent Contractors are met at USAV Girls’ Junior National Championship and Sunshine Classic.
  • Work extensively in multiple computer programs in order to enter data, track team information, update website pages, report results, process entry fees, create and edit documents, correspond with clients and complete other projects as assigned.
  • Prepare and monitor assigned budgets within the Events Department (Sunshine and GJNC).
  • Event Director for Girls’ Junior National Championship and Sunshine.
  • Provide support services and collaborate with other departments in organization and implementation of events.
  • Assist Events Director with hiring new event department employees to include updating job descriptions, reviewing resumes, interviews, and final selection.
  • Coordinate independent contractors for the GJNCs and the Sunshine Qualifier by maintain good communication, coordinating event dates and collecting the necessary individual information.
  • Oversee ordering process for event related materials to include game balls, event staff VIK, banners, marketing supplies, etc. 
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Girls’ Championship Manual.
  • Oversee all records and results for bid allocations in the GJNC Qualification process. This includes continuous communication with qualifier directors and region officials, tracking bids and awarding reallocation bids based on the bid allocation guidelines.
  • Facilitate communication between the Community, Qualifier Directors, Junior Board Representative, Junior Assembly, Local Host, and the National Office Staff.
  • Work with the Junior Assembly, RVA Assembly, and Officials Assembly to maximize the quality of all USAV Championship Events. Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Work with the appropriate recruiting services in the collection of the most current player information and statistics for the benefit of college recruiters that attend the GJNCs.
  • Approve the final providers for on-site equipment needs (heavy equipment, copiers, publications, computers, ice, towels, etc.…) once the RFP process is complete for GJNC & Sunshine Qualifier.
  • Assist the contracted third-party housing company with the enforcement of the Stay & Play policy and the implementation of current hotel booking policies.
  • Communicate requirements and recommend enhancements regarding the event registration system for USAV events and user constituents.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree, Business Administration or related degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • Five years’ minimum experience in event management.
  • Demonstrated experience working with event database systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service. 
  • Ability to keep high pace and prioritize competing demands of department, partners, and customers.
  • Possess strong organizational and attention to detail.
  • Sport event experience is a plus especially for the sport of indoor volleyball. 
  • Experience working with the USOC/NGB/Region is a plus.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening. 
  • Must complete and maintain SafeSport training for continued employment.


$ 52,000 - $55,000
