Position Overview / Role
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for developing the overall master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory. Oversee the planning and operations within the supply chain including sourcing, purchasing, material planning, transportation, material handling, inventory control, order administration, and partners with production scheduling team.
Major Responsibilities:
· Continually evaluate and reduce risks associated with the supply chain.
· Provide for an environment for lean thinking, process improvement, and cost reduction.
· Stay informed of technological advances and apply the appropriate technology to improve supply chain processes.
· Engage with the team in problem solving to achieve improvement.
· Develop and maintain operational standards and working practices that are consistently applied.
· Effectively lead and implement projects and other changes that bring improvement to the team and organization.
· Strong teamwork with Quality and Engineering resulting in meeting the needs and desires of our stakeholders.
· Identify and capitalize on the supply strengths of the USMCA market to positively impact on local and global supply chains.
· Develop and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers.
· Ensure supplier performance to agreed expectations.
· Work to find the most appropriate balance of all supply factors (quality, cost, delivery, reliability, etc).
· Manage inventory levels to consistently meet customer demand.
· Successfully manage and coordinate the supply chain activities related to life cycles of the product and associated materials.
· Based on sales forecasts and production, prepare for material needs in advance leading to increased ability to meet customer delivery requirements.
· Strong teamwork with Production resulting in meeting the needs and desires of our stakeholders.
· Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy by cycle counting and resolving the root causes of discrepancies.
· Organize and lead NTI’s physical inventory process.
· Understanding of local and international shipping processes.
· Strong teamwork with Sales, Marketing, and Production resulting in meeting the needs and desires of our stakeholders.
· Process customer requests and find solutions to meet their needs and desires.
· Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data, such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
· Review and process sales orders to provide a timely response to customers and prepare the orders for production.
· Create monthly production plans based on customer demand, inventory, and budget requirements.
· Additional duties as assigned
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field along with a minimum of 4-6 years related experience in production environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a supervisory role is needed. Experience in Global Supply Chain management preferred, but not required.
· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
· Capability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
· Ability to work in an international environment.
· Proficiency in Excel
· Capability to communicate issues clearly and concisely in both written and verbal form.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as purchase orders, expedite requests, delivery quotation requests, operational instructions, and safety requirements.
· Ability to speak Japanese is preferred, not required.
