We currently have multiple openings for a Field Service Engineer for all brands within Process Insights. Candidates can be remote from anywhere in the US.
The position of Field Service Engineer (FSE) is an integral role within the sales and services department and is the “first face” representing the Company when visiting Customer sites. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for building relationships with customers, performing the maintenance, repairs, training and remote services for all Process Insights product lines in petrochemical, energy, and environmental applications, domestic and with occasional international travel. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for building relationships with customers. The position of Field Service Engineer requires 70% - 90% travel.
- Field Support:
- On-site repair of process and analytical instrumentation to include mass spectrometers, Calorimeters and Total Sulfur Analyzers.
- Emergency and preventive maintenance visits.
- Conversant in all product line applications to include moisture, O2 Analysis, Total Nitrogen, Sulfur, BTU Analysis and process control.
- Customer Support:
- Diagnose and prescribe corrective actions for instrument problems via telephone, email, and modem.
- Occasional weekend and evening phone support.
- Contribute to in-house and field training sessions.
- Maintenance of in-house analyzers (mass spectrometers, Sulfur/Nitrogen Analyzers, Moisture Dewpoint Analyzers).
- Manufacturing Support:
- Provide assembly support as requested.
- Administration:
- Responsible for timely Scheduling of service calls/installations and Management of Calendar.
- Respond to customer RFQ including, spares, repairs, training, billable services.
- Generate Customer Service Requests (CSR)/ Return Material Authorization (RMA).
- Submit accurate trip reports including lessons learned, time, and expenses.
- Support communication of technical related issues via preparation of Technical Support Bulletins.
- Contribute to the maintenance of user manuals.
- Operate lifting and moving devices to move materials and equipment.
- Serialize parts.
- Clean and maintain work area
- Work with quality department to ensure part will meet specifications.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and technical orders to determine methods and sequence of assembly operations.
- Tests functional performance of completed assemblies using test equipment.
- Master of all steps of both electrical and hydraulic processes.
- Perform detail work in an accurate and organized manner.
- Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others; and maintaining them over time.
- Assure appropriate use of Epicor’s ERP system and adopts new business practices as part of newly modeled processes. Becomes a change-agent in support of new ERP practices.
- Applies equal amounts of skills and dedication to all other duties as assigned.
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Qualifying Attributes and Skills
- Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Alternatively, Bachelor of Science in Biology or Chemistry Physics; or Associates in specialized technology; electronics, engineering, or physical science.
- Or Technical specialization/proficiency from a branch of the military.
- Minimum experience of 3-5 years in related field.
- Must be knowledgeable of the mechanical functions of Process Instrumentation, swivels, both electrical and hydraulic.
- Ability to use measurement tools to inspect parts (i.e. calipers, dial gages, micrometers, etc.)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of assembly experience in a field support capacity or similar.
- High level understanding of design engineering requirements and compliant system requirements. Ability to read blueprints and specifications a must.
- Ability to read, interpret and comprehend engineering prints / assembly drawings / BOM’s.
- Understand the engineering and quality management system processes to ensure compliance to ISO regulations.
- Experience with ISO 9001 (ideally the 2015 standard).
- Ability to understand Component Lists, Electrical Schematics, Piping & Instrumentation, Diagrams (P&IDs), Fabrication Drawings, Piping Isometrics, and General Arrangement Drawings.
- Extremely detail oriented. Precision is imperative.
- Professionalism, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines; and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong problem solving and time management skills, a results-oriented work ethic, and ability to work alone with limited direct supervision.
- Fiscal and financial awareness is a must. Attention to cost and expense matters.
- Willingness to assist with tasks, even when the work is out of the scope of responsibilities.
- Technical proficiency a must (MS Office, Epicor ERP, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Ability to work with a technical staff and customers with varying experience levels.
- Adhere to Process Instrumentation Safety policies.
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
- Requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 90% as required by customer demand.
- May require lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, and squatting and working in laboratory environments.
- Valid Drivers' License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
- Must comply with DISA or similar random testing agency for fulfilling site requirements.
