Position Summary:  The Volunteer and Community Outreach manager is responsible for the management of daily operations of the volunteer program to include recruitment, maintenance, training and scheduling of individual and group volunteers and interns. This position will work closely with the Director of Shelter Operations to ensure volunteer management is in compliance with operations and supports program needs. The Volunteer and Community Outreach Manager is also responsible for coordinating community outreach activities to include representation at events, hosting events to raise brand awareness, helping to raise in-kind or monetary support for programs. This position will work closely with the Director of Community Impact to oversee brand awareness and outreach efforts in consultation with the fundraising team. 


  Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s  Degree in human relations, public relations, development, fundraising or  related field
  • At least two years of related experience in volunteer recruitment and management,  preferred 
  • Experience in event management and fundraising, preferred

  • Must have  strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Must be  comfortable with public speaking and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to collaborate with staff and adjust smoothly to prioritize projects

Requirements
  •  Develops and  implements a robust community outreach program to increase awareness and build relationships of the organization.
  • Recruits, leads, manages, and coordinates the overall volunteer program on behalf of  the Kearney Center to include individuals and groups. 
  • Responsible for orientation, training, scheduling, retention, and dispersion of  volunteers to respective departments.
  • Manages  logistics and coordinates with Director of Community Impact on communication for collection drives and in-kind donations.
  • Maintains a  volunteer manual for on the job duties, policies and procedures. 
  • Tracks  volunteer hours for all individuals, groups, committees, etc. Updates volunteer database to reflect volunteer hours and scheduling. 
  • Represents  the Kearney Center at community outreach events and builds relationships  with relevant community groups. 
  • Plans and manages annual volunteer stewardship event to recognize volunteers.
  • Assists with  peer to peer fundraising recruitment, oversight, outreach, and fundraising efforts. 
  • Maintains a  community presences through membership in various civic and professional groups.
  • Updates the  donor database to reflect substantial interactions with donors to include  communications exchanged, meetings, etc.
  • Conducts  analysis and provides regular statistical and activity reports on both volunteer programs and outreach efforts.  
  • Assess and report on regular visitor feedback through comment forms. 
  • Evaluate all  aspects of volunteer and outreach program efforts for effectiveness and to  implement changes to improve.
  • Seeks and  manages speaking engagement opportunities to represent the Kearney Center  and its mission.
  • Network, develop and maintain relationships with volunteers, donors, and external  constituents. 
  • Assist in conducting tours of the Kearney Center with external constituents. 
  • In  coordination with the Director of Community Impact and Donor Relations  Coordinator, plans all special events, administrative support, etc. 
Salary Description
$40,000 - $60,000
