Senior Buyer:

The Senior Buyer will have professional responsibility in the procurement of materials and equipment for Optikos. The Senior Buyer will be a self-starting, highly responsible and motivated person possessing the abilities and skillset to perform the role completely and accurately. The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, interacting effectively with the team, co-workers, vendors, and business contacts in an efficient, courteous, engaging and professional manner. The ideal candidate will have the ability to form strong internal and external partnerships. The Senior Buyer must have a minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Purchasing of components, custom parts, mechanical and electro mechanical assemblies and optical related parts both domestically and internationally.
• Manage strategic suppliers and commodities to meet quality, delivery and support Supplier Performance reporting.
• Work with manufacturing, distribution, customer service and suppliers to prioritize, expedite and de-expedite purchase orders and/ or work orders based on material availability, resources and changing requirements.
• Coordinate necessary product specification revisions and deviations as needed with Suppliers.
• Maintain system accuracy, including lead-time, pricing, current supplier information, current purchase order data.
• Participate in the new product development process and support supply chain planning activities at the new product level with the R&D department.
• Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
• Monitor and understand key planning parameters such as safety stocks, buffer stocks and lot traceability.
• Assist in ensuring and maintaining purchasing department compliance to ISO, company policies and procedures. 
• Investigate and respond to ISO Document Control’s queries concerning Vendor documentation.

Qualifications & Skills: 

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in Purchasing as a Sr. Buyer
• Experience in optics and a strong knowledge of ERP Systems
• Strong administrative and data management skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel and Power Point
• Experience in delivering competitive advantage to the business through development and implementation of sourcing strategies 
• Ability to meet deadlines in high volume environment
• Ability to work independently 
• Technical knowledge of mechanical and electronics is a plus
• Supply chain certification (CSCP, CPIM, CFPIM); is an added plus
