The Home Visitor, under the supervision of the EHS Home-Visitor Supervisor, is responsible for working with very young children and their families in direct services through home visits to each family on his/her caseload, and to assist in the bi-weekly group socialization activities for all families in the program. All services must be provided in compliance with all Head Start Program Performance Standards and other requirements as appropriate.
1. Education and Experience: Must have a minimum of a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, and demonstrate competency to plan and implement home-based learning experiences that ensure effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum and promote children’s progress across the standards described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate, and to build respect, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families.
2. Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet agency insurability requirements. Must be willing to pursue additional education as required by ongoing regulations.
3. Skills and Abilities: Must be able to gain new skills in teaching adults and children developmentally appropriate skills, and gain broader knowledge on related issues by attending seminars, workshops, and personal study. Fluency in the languages spoken by the families in Grant and Blackford Counties is highly preferred. Also must possess the following qualities: Adaptability, Judgment, Initiative, Leadership, Communication (written and oral), Teamwork, and Attention to Detail, Follow-up, and Information Monitoring.
4. Physical Demands: Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, and sit (including sitting on floor) for long periods of time and to lift, hold and move small children (5-50 lbs.). Must be able to drive a vehicle to home visit appointments within Grant and Blackford Counties. Must have the sensory capacities to perform essential job functions.
