Thomas College invites applications for the position of Academic Support and Desk Manager. This position reports to the Associate Director of Library Services. This position will focus on management of a service desk, support of instructional technology, and support of academic AV and media production. The Thomas College Service Desk is the first-tier support for Library and IT. This position is part of the Information Services area including both Library and IT Services departments.
A college degree and a minimum of two years’ experience in a variety of information support and service areas, or equivalent work experience, are required. The Academic Support and Desk Manager applicant should have experience in customer service, and audio/video (A/V), and instructional technology. This includes the ability to schedule, train, coach, and mentor Service Desk Support Staff. The Academic Support and Desk Manager possesses good oral and written communication skills. The Academic Support and Desk Manager displays initiative and is able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a constantly changing environment with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff. Working knowledge of the Sierra library management system, various operating systems, Microsoft Office, a variety of subscription online databases, and basic online search techniques would be helpful.
