Reporting to the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (DCIA), the Mathematics Specialist primarily supports K-7 teachers in delivering effective math instruction with fidelity to Ascent’s mathematics curriculum. The ideal candidate is a master teacher with experience coaching and mentoring staff in explicit math instruction. The Mathematics Specialist will complete both routine tasks (teacher observations and debriefings, coordinating and administering math assessments, etc.) and larger projects of the network-wide curriculum and instruction team supporting all Ascent schools in Colorado.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Continuously evaluate, recommend improvements of, and facilitate initial and ongoing training of Ascent‘s K-7 math program for teachers, school leaders, and instructional coaches.
- Provide ongoing formal and informal observations, co-teaching, modeling, and coaching of K-7 math teaching.
- Provide guidance and support to site-level instructional coaches interfacing with math instruction.
- Provide actionable feedback/reports of mathematics curriculum and instructional effectiveness to teachers, school leaders, and corporate leadership.
- Attend weekly curriculum and instruction team meetings to identify and resolve challenges, provide updates, track academic data, and initiate and prioritize projects.
- Maintain mathematics components of curricular bill of materials, supply lists, and academic program guide.
- Remain up to date on training and research regarding evidence-based mathematics curricula and instructional approaches.
- Remain flexible to support projects and processes of the curriculum and instruction team.
- As needed, support mathematics instructional coaches at other Ascent network campuses with regular communication and guidance.

Desired Start Date: Immediately, or a summer 2023 start in order to prepare for the 2023-2024 school year. Faculty and staff pre-service training begins August 1, 2023.
Employment Type and Schedule: Exempt, Full-time, year-round with reduced responsibilities in the summer
Location: Lone Tree, Colorado
Base Salary Range: $48,000 to $54,000 annually

- Three or more years of math teaching experience, in a classical setting preferred
- Singapore math experience strongly preferred
- Experience coaching teachers in math instruction
- Demonstrated ability to implement instructional strategies that enhance student learning
- Experience evaluating and recommending K-7 math curriculum
- Familiarity with CO state math standards, assessments, and law impacting math curriculum and instruction
- Eligibility to work in the United States
