Position Description

The Catholic School Principal is the chief administrator and facilitator of St. Pius X High School serving more than 400 students.  Under the direction of the School President, the Catholic School Principal is responsible for leadership of the faculty and fostering the spiritual and intellectual formation of the students.


Requirements

Requires Master’s Degree, state certification, previous administrative experience, and pastor's letter of reference.  This is a full-time benefit eligible position.


Essential Functions 

  • Lead and nurture the doctrinal, liturgical, and spiritual growth of students and faculty.
  • Promote a Catholic community among parents, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Maintain optimal relations in a professional and collegial manner with all students, faculty, staff, parents, president, superintendent, chaplain, and the school community.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate regularly qualified, dedicated teachers.
  • Implement the Diocesan and/or State of Missouri academic standards consistently.
  • Offer professional development opportunities to faculty to grow pedagogically and spiritually.
  • Provide for an orderly and structured school environment which promotes discipline within the school amongst the faculty, staff, and students.
  • Plan and participate in faculty meetings, parent conferences, school programs, assemblies, athletic events, liturgies, and religious activities as indicated on the school calendar.
  • Manage faculty and staff to ensure adequate staffing and responsible utilization of resources.
  • Lead and maintain a continuous plan of assessment/evaluation of the instructional programs and the religious, academic, social, physical, and emotional growth of the students. 
  • Support and guide the establishment/continuation of AP, college credit classes, and vocational opportunities for students.
  • Follow all policies stated in the local faculty and student handbooks.

  • Identify and implement strategic priorities and initiatives identified by the President and Board of St. Pius X.
  • Demonstrate the ability to evaluate the general effectiveness of the academic programs and plan for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Department Heads and faculty on an on-going basis throughout the year.
  • Understand the responsibility and ramification of state requirements and federal programs for private schools.
  • Demonstrate trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Articulate strong verbal and written communication skills to build effective relationships, exchange information clearly and concisely and to deliver new concepts, opinions and ideas in a professional manner.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in School or Secondary Administration.
  • Practicing Catholic with ethical standards, personal integrity, and conduct consistent with the morals and teachings of the Catholic Church; includes faithful obedience to the Magisterium. 
  • Minimum 5 years administrative experience in Catholic schools.
  • State certification/license in administration.
