Description

 Polara / Carmanah / EDI is the leading traffic and pedestrian safety platform for intelligent transportation systems (“ITS”) in North America with a portfolio of products including Accessible Pedestrian Signals (“APS”) systems, intersection traffic safety products and “away from intersection” pedestrian and traffic safety technology. The Company has a track record of innovation, harnessing a broad suite of intellectual property while developing new applications like touchless push buttons, Advanced Traffic Controller (ATC) related products, device connectivity and solar LED technology. The Company sells to local municipalities through their broad network of distributors. Polara is seeking a financial leader who is operationally savvy, strategic, who will partner with the CFO to drive growth across that platform. 


  • Manage and lead all aspects of the accounting and finance function of the platform. 
  • Work with the CFO and leadership team to set the strategic direction, maintain the strong culture, and drive results of the organization. 
  • Lead, coach and develop the accounting and finance team.  
  • Collaborate with and support functional leaders to facilitate sound decision making.
  • Improve processes and controls in accounting and finance. 
  • Enhance roles & responsibility expectations of the finance function (including intersections with other departments). 
  • Manage the monthly close and consolidation process across the platform 
  • Prepare the monthly reporting package and quarterly board decks
  • Continue to expand / improve KPIs and metrics (financial, operational and sales related), and ensure they are actionable. 
  • Review and consolidate annual budgets / forecasts 
  • Ensure GAAP reporting and ability to pass the annual audit for the platform. 
  • ERP – Continue to enhance Infor and improve usage within the organization. 
  • Inventory / Costing - Improve and maintain the internal costing system. 
  • Cash flows - Properly analyze, manage, and forecast cash flows of the businesses. 
  • Capex - Prepare business cases for capital expenditures and investments; and return on investment.
  • Margin, pricing, and costing analytics. 
  • Cost management and containment across the organization 
  • Integrate future acquisitions. 
  • Manage tax filings. 
  • Manage the integration/consolidation post-close. 


Requirements
  • Manufacturing experience – high mix, low volume; standard costing expertise preferred
  • ERP management experience – both financially and operationally
  • Good reporting capabilities 
  • Comfortable under Private Equity ownership 
  • Strong background in continuous      
  • improvement methods/tools/KPI’s
  • Robust excel skills
  • BS in accounting or finance required; MBA or CPA is desirable
