To operate the onsite Medical Clinic, maintain camper medical records, administer and organize camper medications, and to provide care as needed within the scope of a Registered Nurse to children attending Camp Oty’Okwa, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio’s residential summer camp program in the Hocking Hills. 

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Have medical cabin ready to operate prior to the beginning of Pre-Camp Training.

• As able, teach all staff members emergency First-Aid and other emergency medical treatment deemed important and necessary.

• Participate in all phases of Pre-Camp Training.

• Medical responsibilities to campers and staff:

• See that all staff members come to camp with complete health forms.

• Provide emergency medical treatment to campers and staff when necessary.

• Provide medical treatment to campers and staff on a routine basis.

• Keep and administer all medications for campers.

• Responsible for seeing medication for campers is returned to their parents at end of each session.

• Responsible for keeping first-aid kits stocked and seeing to it they are taken on hikes and returned.

• Make Counselors aware of any medical problem a camper may be having.

• Obtain doctor’s appointments for those campers requiring medical attention.

• Keep satisfactory records of any person given treatment.

• Responsible for seeing that insurance forms for camper insurance are properly filled out and administered to.

• Be responsible for keeping and assigning blankets and sleeping bags to campers when necessary. Maintain Lost and Found for children.

• Assist Camp Coordinator during cabin inspections and all camp inspections.

• Responsible for seeing that Medical Facility is clean and presentable at all times.

• Responsible for seeing that all medical supplies for end of summer camping by rental groups are available.

• Keep running inventory and advise Camp Program Director of any needed medical supplies.

• Inventory all medical supplies at end of summer.

• Make a medical follow up list to be given to Camp Director at end of summer.

• Attend all administrative meetings.

• Attend all meals.

• Report all serious injuries to Camp Director.

 Registered Nurse through accredited nursing program.
