WithersRavenel is recruiting a Senior Civil Designer to join the expanding and innovative Residential Development Practice Area! In this role you will support the team by providing technical support and taking concepts and turning them into documentable solutions. You will also translate technical notes, sketches, and electronic data into neat and organized drawings and packages that clearly communicate solutions to the project team and clients.
This is a hybrid role working out of our Cary office, where employees and supervisors collaborate to establish an in- and out-of-office schedule that “works” for all involved.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preliminary and completed layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings from technical notes, sketches, and/or other drawings, ensuring they meet our company and industry standards and codes
- Review data received from senior technical staff and Project Managers (PMs), analyze information, and determine compliance with standards and design concepts
- Research and obtain standards/codes required by client and jurisdiction
- Complete deliverables and project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule, reviewing drawings for completeness and accuracy
- Use various applications to generate drawings, reports, or other technical based deliverables based on specific project requirements
- Analyze technical problems; devise new or improved techniques, approaches, and alternative solutions; and communicate those to supervisor for approval and implementation

- Associate degree or related technical certificate or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of AutoCAD Civil3D Experience
- Preferred experience with grading, storm drainage design, earthworks site balancing, plan/profiles, 2D and 3D utility design.
- Self-motivated, engaged, and team-oriented
- Execute multiple tasks under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
- Understand planning and/or design concepts and methods
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Working Conditions
The assignment may require infrequent evening/weekend work and job site visits outdoors. Candidates should enjoy working in collaborative, fast-paced, and client-driven environment.
Physical Requirements
The assignment may occasionally require repetitive physical tasks (such as operating a computer), standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, extended time travelling in a vehicle, and carrying equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.
