JOB SUMMARY:

The Imaging Specialist supports key aspects of the imaging workflow within MMI’s core lab operations. This includes site training, ensuring high-quality image acquisition, receipt and QA of incoming imaging, resolution of technical discrepancies with site staff, pre-reads and pre-analyses of imaging (where applicable). The Imaging Specialist provides technical support and applies his/her clinical knowledge of medical imaging to ensure the scientific integrity, quality, and efficiency of departmental processes and procedures. This role will interact with other MMI departments, as needed, for successful design, management and execution of imaging services for clinical trials and other medical imaging needs of MMI’s clients and partners. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use proprietary software to inspect incoming medical images that span many combinations of anatomy and imaging      modalities
  • Identify deviations from the prescribed image acquisition protocol (IAP) in incoming medical images 
  • Document image quality and recommend corrective action
  • Assist with proposal and protocol development on aspects related to image acquisition, QC/QA, analysis methodology, software tools, and interpretation of results
  • Train and assist other Imaging Services team members
  • Provide internal subject matter expertise related to image quality and acquisition methodology
  • Author imaging services documents such as IAPs  and work instructions
  • Support other departments including Client Services, Technical Services, Technology Enablement, Operations, and Finance & Administration, as needed, on inter-departmental initiatives and projects 
  • Reinforce site- and customer-relationships through responsiveness, creative thinking, active communication, and high quality technical support 
  • Conduct image analysis, as needed, and assist with implementing efficient workflow across the image-handling functions
  • Understand Medical Metrics’ Quality Policy and support the achievement of the organization’s quality objectives and take corrective actions, when necessary, to mitigate organizational risk 
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, as well as ISO 9001 and Current Good Clinical Practices (cGCP’s) relative to job tasks 
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures
Requirements

  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • ARRT registered radiographer and credentials/certification in one or more modalities or a Bachelor’s degree in radiologic science, engineering, imaging, allied health or related discipline with “hands on” imaging experience in a clinical setting
  • Prior experience or research in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, medical imaging or healthcare technology is a plus but is not a mandatory requirement 
  • Demonstrated technical competence in medical image acquisition, modality console operation, patient/subject positioning, and preparation of images for delivery to end-users
  • Knowledge of GCP, image acquisition protocols, image analyses software packages, case report forms (CRFs), and data management tools
  • Operational proficiency with basic office software tools like MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

  • Expertise at image protocol development and production of technical documentation

  • Familiarity with human anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to rapidly acquire and apply new technical and scientific knowledge 
  • Willingness to learn and master new anatomic applications and imaging modalities
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects/tasks under tight timelines
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, 
  • Effective technical presentation skills to technical and non-technical audiences
