Under the clinical supervision of the Psychiatrist independently provides comprehensive care to patients through evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. Performs job duties that are consistent with a model that integrates primary mental health care with primary medical care. Demonstrates a high level of skills necessary to perform the job duties within regulatory requirements. Supports and follows through with the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of Family Healthcare of Hagerstown.
- Mental Health Diagnosis and Treatment
- Maintains appropriate standards for treatment, including therapeutic modalities and prescribing practices.
- Performs mental health evaluations using history, examination, and other indicated procedures.
- Orders tests and interprets results to formulate medical diagnoses and treatment plan.
- Reviews tests via faxes and PAQ in a timely fashion.
- Counsels patients and/or family in matters relating to mental health.
- Initiates referrals to therapist or other appropriate care, specialists, and programs.
- Appropriately responds to urgent/emergency mental health situations.
- Documents patient visits according to FHH policy, federal, and state regulations.
- Documents all the necessary information in the appropriate EMR templates and fields including patient visit and clinical measure information.
- Ensures appropriate coding for procedures that are performed in a timely manner.
EDUCATION: Completion of a certified Nurse Practitioner Program - Nurse Practitioner degree from accredited school
OTHER:
Current license to practice in Maryland
Minimum two years experience in mental health setting
Current Maryland State Dispensing License
Current DEA License
Current BLS and/or ACLS
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary staff.
Capacity to obtain proficiency in utilizing Center’s EMR system.
Physical: Minimum to intermediate physical effort required. Job includes sitting, standing, reaching, trunk movements, lifting occasional heavy objects with assistance, carrying, dexterity of hands and fingers, and pushing and pulling. Must be capable of traveling and working in more than one job site. Duties frequently require extended periods of walking. Ability to pass physical to include vision and hearing screening.
Mental: Frequent periods of concentration, with attention to details with frequent opportunity for diversification of tasks. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language, in addition to being able to read and write the English language.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Work performed in a modern well-equipped environment. Interfaces with fellow employees, patients, family members, and physicians on a daily basis. Possible exposure to infection, virus, and diseases.
