POSITION OBJECTIVES:
Under supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
This position will work at an Outdoor Pool. Applicant must be on time for all shifts, be diligent at job and have the flexibility to work any day of the week, including weekends, as per business needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- Knowledge of CPR/AED/First Aid and emergency care procedures.
- Ability to perform daily swim (20 Laps) required by all.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory and mental abilities normally associated with performing the essential functions of this position.
Education and Experience:
- Prior lifeguarding experience preferred.
- Minimum age requirement is 15 (Swimming pool area), to meet CT Minor Law Guidelines.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Must possess current certifications in Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
Language and Communication Skills:
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Strong communication skills
Physical, sensory and motor demands:
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department head; swim test (swim for time and for distance both in pool and in open water),
- Have the ability to demonstrate the skills involved in being a lifeguard as taught during lifeguard certification course. Not excluding additional skills and routines asked by management.
- Be able to Carry/Move Objects up to 50 lbs.
