Description

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Licensed Mental Health Professional is responsible to provide effective mental health and/or co-occurring prevention and/or treatment for its clients such that the minimum threshold, as outlined in the State of Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services standards or other professional credentialing authority. To provide voluntary, comprehensive services to victims of crime, domestic violence, sexual assault etc. to assist after the individual is a victim of a crime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma informed practice and evidenced based mental health and/or co-occurring treatment for its clients 
  • Provide counseling to all ages: elders, adults, adolescents, and child
  • Provide appropriate assessments in order to ascertain client needs, strengths and determine appropriate level of care using appropriate criteria if applicable.
  • Constructive treatment planning and treatment planning revision with the client in order to collaborate on treatment needs.
  • Determine appropriate level of care.
  • Noting of appropriate case documents in a trauma informed lens.
  • Attend all trainings required by department and funding agency.
  • Individual, groups, and/or support groups
  • Adapt therapeutic approach to clientele. 
  • Educational and process oriented individual, group, and/or family counseling to educate, treat, and assist clients in treatment and recovery goals.
  • Holistic approach for medication management and/or referrals for medication as applicable.
  • Aftercare planning, referrals, and placement with the utilization of support systems and community resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have current Master’s level licensure in the State of Oklahoma or national certification, i.e. NCSP, LPC, LBP, LMFT, LCSW.
  • At lease 1 year experience providing counseling to victims of crime and/or acute trauma.
  • At least 6 months experience with children, adolescents, adults, and elders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of counseling strategies to all victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other victims of crime.
  • Knowledge of trauma informed therapeutic approaches and case conceptualization for victim types.
  • Understanding of trauma and victimization.
  • Culturally knowledgeable with understanding of traditional holistic healing.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Skilled in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Skilled in talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, lift, kneel, sit in the floor and carry up to 40 pounds.
