POSITION DESCRIPTION: HOUSEKEEPING
Direct Supervisor: Fleet & Facilities Manager
Job Summary:
Housekeeping is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the funeral home, including its restrooms, arrangement rooms, parlors, lounges, and lobby. Routine tasks may include:
- removing trash
- scrubbing counters, sinks, and toilets
- replacing paper products
- vacuuming
- dusting
- restocking snacks and water
- wiping down glass surfaces
- helping move caskets into and out of a transport van
Essential Functions:
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the facility
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, public areas, and workspaces regularly
- Remove trash and recycling from all designated areas
- Replenish restroom and refreshment supplies as needed
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust floors, furniture, and surfaces
- Clean and polish glass doors, windows, and mirrors
- Assist in moving caskets and related equipment into or out of transport vans
- Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are properly stored and maintained
- Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or supply shortages
- Adhere to all company safety procedures and cleaning standards
- Respect the sensitive and professional environment of the funeral home at all times
Salary and Benefits:
This position is paid an hourly rate and is not exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Benefits as described in the Bliley’s Handbook are provided to full-time associates.
- Two years minimum experience in housekeeping
- An eye for detail
- Ability to work independently
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Physical Requirements:
This role involves frequent walking, bending, reaching, and standing during shifts. Lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds may be required. Use of standard cleaning solutions and chemicals is part of the role; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided. Working Conditions: This position may be part-time or full-time, based on business needs and candidate availability.
