Environmental, Health, and Safety Director

Power Mechanical, Inc. is seeking a hardworking, career-oriented person of good character to fill an Environmental, Health, and Safety Director position within our organization. The EHS Director is an integral part of Power Mechanical, Inc’s (PMI) leadership. This position works with each division, its leadership, and customers to ensure employees have a safe and healthful work environment. Regular shop/site inspections, training, teambuilding, coaching, and policy development are recognized examples of methods that help foster a positive safety culture and competitive safety performance at PMI.  

Requirements

The EHS Director is responsible for, but not limited to: 

  • Interpreting and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations from OSHA, DEQ, and EPA.  
  • Providing and coordinating safety training to all employees.
  • Conducting regular safety inspections in shops, offices, and job sites.
  • Track training, screening results, and other pertinent data.
  • Coordinate customer-specific training.      
  • Accident/incident investigation. 
  • Safety committee chair. 
  • Act as a liaison to PMI’s insurance TPA and other representatives.
  • Workers’ Compensation management. 
  • Keep corporate leadership apprised of safety performance. 
  • Develop, manage, and update company safety policies.
  • Create reports as needed. 

This position requires:

· Meeting Commitments- Assumes total accountability for meeting daily commitments with clear understanding of his/her impact on project schedules.

· Quality of work- Sets and maintains goals and high standards for self while understanding and conforming to company requirements. Achieves a volume of acceptable work within allotted time. Work produced achieves established standards for thoroughness, accuracy, neatness, and acceptability.

· Professionalism- Must display a high level of professionalism in conduct, attitude, and attire appropriate for the work area. Ability to work with people at all levels, must understand “internal customer” concept. Able to exercise authority and respond to criticism.

· Leadership- Ability to inspire teamwork and high morale; constructively influence the performance of others; able to obtain results through others.  Ability to solve problems and make decisions within the scope of authority.


Physical Requirements:

  • Regular standing, stooping, walking around jobsites.
  • Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Visual Acuity Requirements of the Position:
    • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the condition of work areas.

Education/Experience:

  • BS Occupational Safety. 
  • 10 years of relevant experience and/or training. Additional work experience can relieve the education requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager. 
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of OSHA regulations 1910 and 1926 sectors. 
  • Familiarity w/Microsoft Office programs. 
  • Ability to understand various computer programs. 
  • Acceptable driving record. 
  • Teambuilding skills.      
  • Ability to speak in front of a group effectively. 

Candidate should be willing and able to learn, be dependable, and have a good work ethic.
