POSITION SUMMARY:   

The event and development manager will act as a welcoming person who puts others at ease and encourages their engagement and connection to LSS. This successful candidate will work as a highly motivated, hospitality-minded individual, comfortable taking a leadership role in the management of a variety special events. This role takes responsibility for revenue generation through events and solicitations, and donor stewardship. This person will assist in generating traditional and social media marketing ideas. The position is a member of the development team and reports directly to the Director of Development. 

  • Provide strategic direction and management of all aspects of special events including event logistics, vendors, event committees and volunteers, auction solicitation, ticket sales, promotions, and budgets. 
  • Work collaboratively with the development and marketing teams to ensure appropriate leveraging (development) of event volunteers, attendees and donor relationships.  
  • Plan and implement fundraising, donor cultivation, and donor stewardship events. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to create event sponsorships, secure and cultivate event sponsors, participation and/or donations. 
  • Solicit, negotiate, contract and steward organizational resources for event hospitality, in-kind gifts, and ancillary services associated with events. 
  • Working through development, collaborate with the marketing/communications department to create collateral material to meet event needs and sponsor requirements.  
  • Working through development, collaborate with marketing/communications department to monitor and assist with event specific management of the website and social media.  
  • Ensure all postings and information are appropriate, timely and within LIFE’s brand guidelines. 
  • Collaborate with LIFE’s volunteer manager to train, support, supervise, and recognize volunteer and community leaders to achieve fundraising goals.  
  • Update the donor database to reflect interactions with donors, participants, and volunteers, regarding communications sent and received and commitments set.  
  • Produce timely and appreciative acknowledgements for all event donors, participants, supporters, and volunteers. 
  • Conduct event analysis and create tracking reports. 
  • Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress report to present to the board of directors on special events and fundraising initiatives. 
  • Maintain a community presence through membership in local and/or regional professional groups. 
  • Adheres to and support the facilities policies, practices and procedures. 
  • Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner and perform all other related duties as assigned by Supervisor. 
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Degree from four-year accredited college and 3+ years’ (preferred) experience in a role focused in fundraising, special event management. Experience in a role focused on sales, marketing, fundraising, and events with auctions is preferred. 


CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATION: 

Current certification as a CFRE through the Association of Fundraising Professionals desirable. 

Oklahoma drivers license and insurance required. 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods and may be required to stand for an extended period. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position is required to work some evenings and occasional weekends.
