POSITION OBJECTIVES:

The Live Good R&D Manager will lead the research and development team to innovate, research, and determine viability of various indoor foliage live goods. This role will be responsible for various aspects of the successful growth, organization, and data collection of crop and system trials. 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Initiate and manage day-to-day live plants R&D projects.
• Conduct ongoing plant trials, record data, report results on a weekly basis.
• Organize trials in production greenhouse environment, in retail conditions, and in home conditions.
• Work with vendors on new ideas and samples.
• Become the “funnel” of all new plant-related new ideas from variety of internal contributors. 
• Interact with key department heads on projects - Sales, Design, Production (including growers and assembly), Sourcing.
• Create presentations in order to deliver information to the team in an easily digestible format.
• Monitor the horticultural research team members to ensure proper execution of trial protocols.
• Ensure that trial protocols are conducted correctly, on time and as scheduled.
• Maintain data and documents related to trials and trial parameters.
• Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) when necessary
• Monitor and record observations related to trial parameters including climate, grow rates, growth regulators, nutrients, visual observations, etc.
• Ensure the health and quality of trial crops during each phase of production, providing regular update reports to team and management.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

SPECIFIC SKILLS

• Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, plant science, biological sciences or equivalent field required.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of an organization, including vendors.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time.
• 2 years + Experience in project management environment.
• 2 years + Experience in young plant propagation.
• Excellent data / Excel capabilities. 
• Excellent PowerPoint presentation capabilities.
• Creativity and ability to imagine new product innovations and applications.
