Description

 The Social Studies Department of Colorado Academy seeks candidates for the position of Economics teacher with a dual aptitude in another field of Social Studies or History. Candidates with additional proficiency in another field, such as mathematics, will also be considered.


This is a full-time, ongoing appointment consisting of advising and four teaching sections, with the majority being Economics, but an additional course(s) as needed. The position begins in mid-August 2023.

Requirements

 

We seek candidates with strong academic training and demonstrated ability to teach and develop a robust and innovative curriculum. Explicit graduate training in the field of Economics is preferred. 


Candidates should also have experience guiding students through content, research, and analysis, which emphasizes critical thinking, and be able to teach and conduct discussions in a student-centered way. As importantly, we seek a candidate with a demonstrated passion for exploring how economics and the social sciences intersect – and a track record leveraging this passion into effective practices which encourage students to think creatively, engage with ideas deeply, and lead with intellectual curiosity.


Candidates should be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm. Candidates will share in the day-to-day life of the school community, including serving as an advisor and interim teacher. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated intercultural competence, which is the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives, identities, and lived experiences.


Candidates are expected to carry out the mission of CA, "Creating Curious, Kind, Courageous, and Adventurous Learners and Leaders," to support the vision of the Upper School and to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom. 

 

The pay range for the position is $60,000 - $80,000. This is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
