Description

Essential Functions:

  • Work as member of crew in all types of weather conditions and in all types of environmental conditions such as dirt, mud, concrete
  • Prepare the worksite area for concrete operations, and assemble concrete forms at construction site locations
  • Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers; and mix, pour, and spread concrete
  • Bend, form, tie, and install rebar as illustrated in plans or as directed
  • Align and brace portions of project assembly, using bubble leveler, board, nails, and hammer
  • Measure distance between forms, using tape measure or laser sighting.
  • Drill and insert pins or dowels in concrete panels
  • Remove obstructions in grooves with hammer and chisel
  • Patch holes, cracks, and joints in assembled sections using mortar and trowel or necessary tools
  • Fill forms or panels with wet concrete and vibrate, screed, trowel, or prepare surface, to ensure
  • Proper concrete settling and surfacing as necessary or as described in plan
  • Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement
  • Move and grade material (dirt, sand, etc.) with a shovel/rake to achieve fine grade before pouring concrete
  • Wreck and stack forms and job materials in order to move to the next project
  • Grade and backfill around concrete. Clean up the job site at the completion of construction
  • Report ALL incidents/injuries/complaints, etc., major or minor, to Concrete Foreman
Requirements

Special Position Requirements:

1 year experience in concrete finishing

Ability and understanding of forming and finish process


Physical Requirements:

Requires the mobility to perform vehicle operating duties.

The Concrete Finisher has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects.

The Concrete Finisher will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold.

Ability to climb a ladder in and out of a trench.

  • Safety Vest - A safety vest is mandatory when performing work in traffic/pedestrian areas.
  • Hardhats - Hardhat use is mandatory on ALL job sites.
  • Hand Protection – Gloves are required to assure hand protection.
  • Foot Protection - Safety shoes are mandatory on all job sites (steel-toe)
  • Eye Protection – Safety glasses are mandatory while working on-site.
  • Always be aware of potential dangers and hazards around you while driving vehicles or operating equipment.
