Job Summary

As the Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the life cycle of product-related claims, from creation and filing of the claim with manufacturers/suppliers, through collection of credit, and final closeout of the issue. You will work closely with our production team to collect information needed for claim submission, then work with the manufacturer/supplier on claim processing and resolution. The successful candidate will be organized and detail-oriented with excellent record-keeping skills and a good ability to communicate with internal and external parties. Under general supervision, this position will be able to manage a full claim workload with minimal assistance and be responsible for making sound decisions within delegated authority.


General Responsibilities

  • Create and update the status of all product-related claims within the system
  • Work with production and service team to collect pictures, videos, and samples of defective/damaged products
  • Submit required paperwork with the manufacturer/supplier to initiate the claim
  • Coordinate 3rd party inspection of defective materials, if required
  • Obtain claim authorization or return authorization from the manufacturer/supplier in a timely manner
  • Work with accounting team on receipt and accurate posting of credit from the manufacturer/supplier
  • Review rejected or disputed claims and escalate to direct supervisor
  • Manage and report on claims receivables
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials for internal customers
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with suppliers, production, purchasing, warehousing, accounting, and other professionals

Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience in claims/disputes
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills that include but are not limited to data entry, Excel, MS Outlook, Internet
  • Knowledge of residential new construction process (preferred but not required)
