We are currently seeking a Part-Time Bistro Cook to join the Hollenbeck community. Must be able to work weekends and weekdays.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Receives assignments and prioritises work on a daily basis under supervision.
2. Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
3. Performs all related cooking and food preparation duties as assigned;
4. Take orders from members and cook foods requiring short preparation times, according to customer requirements.
5. Follows standardized recipes and contributes ideas to preparation of menus.
6. Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
7. Works cooperatively with Assistant Food Service Director and Bistro Server for efficiency and customer service.
8. May cross-train to other assignments, accept interruptions to work flow for emergencies, and per needs of facility and requests of supervisors; implements disaster protocols when situations occur.
9. Turn on grill and ovens, check freezer and refrigerator temperatures.
10. Review menu and specials of the week and retrieve items needed for grill and Bistro specials.
11. Check with Assistant Food Service Director and Dining Room Manager for any special instructions.
12. Serve requested items from hot wells, prepare salads and desserts, and cook special orders at grill.
13. Work with Bistro Server regarding any special requests.
14. Serve food, sweep and mop working area, wash dishes, pots and pans.
15. Check completion of job duties. Close Dining area with Bistro Server.
16. Assists with various functions as assigned.

Qualifications
- One or more years of prior cooking, related food service, or wait staff experience preferred in a Healthcare setting or Senior living community.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must speak, read and write in English which is the dominant language of residents, bilingual experience welcome.
- Must be able to squat, bend and pull as least 25 lbs at a time and lift items up to 50lbs.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and posses excellent customer service skills.
- Must be willing to work with and be sensitive to the needs of the elderly in a retirement setting.
- Must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19 or have valid exemptions ( medical or religious) for consideration
