K-5 In-School Intervention Teacher

PURPOSE OF JOB: Establish a good rapport with students and parents in order to build a network of support for struggling students.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):


  • Applicant should have knowledge of school and classroom rules, procedures and practices.
  • Applicant must have the ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment.
  • Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and patience.
  • Applicant must have experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged.
  • Provide supervision for students who are assigned to the In-School Suspension classroom.
  • Take daily attendance.
  • Ensure students are completing work and the abilities to provide support on student work
  • Review in-school suspension policies, procedures and student expectations with students daily.
  • Work with students and or other staff members during student reflection period on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in student being assigned to ISS.
  • Monitor all ISS assignments; provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, computer work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
  • Email teachers in advance for work requests.
  • Facilitate and arrange delivery of student lunches when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with parents if needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Hold or be eligible for Missouri Teaching or Substitute Teaching Certificate (Preferred)
  • Experience working with elementary are students 
  • Experience communicating with parents

REPORTS TO: Building Principal


STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt


WORK HOURS: 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.


SALARY: $35,000.00
