Make a difference and guide clients on their journey to reach their personal fitness goals when you join our team as a personal trainer. Utilize your knowledge of exercise science and nutrition to counsel clients on a one-on-one basis and create an individualized fitness plan that is suited to each person’s physical abilities. Strong customer service skills are necessary as you engage with clients and answer their questions about the gym equipment, services we offer, general health questions, and more.
· Knowledge of anatomy, functional exercise, basic nutrition, and basic exercise science.
· Ability to motivate others to improve their overall fitness and health.
· Build effective relationships with clients.
· Conducts fitness consultations for new clients including pre-participation screening, medical history, lifestyle questionnaire, and goal setting to assess and recommend personal training programs.
· Develop individualized exercise programs consistent with a client’s personal fitness and exercise goals.
· Demonstrate and teach exercises while providing feedback to a client during session.
· Instructs clients during personal training sessions on the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility, and strength training equipment.
· Continually monitor and assist clients to ensure proper form is used when performing exercises.
· Monitor progress of clients’ fitness levels.
· Research on new exercise techniques and trends.
· Keep accurate personal training records.
· Track and Redeem client training sessions.
· Assists with special events related to fitness and health.
· Promote personal training packages and related services.
· Follow YMCA policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, exercise science, sports medicine, or health related field preferred
· Nationally Accredited Certification: Required. Hold a valid certification from a nationally recognized organization, such as ACE, NASM, ACSM, ISSA, or similar.
· Personal training experience preferred.
· CPR, First Aid and AED Certified.
· Knowledge of fitness, wellness, strength, and cardiovascular training.
· Personal program design experience, and the ability to use the tools given to optimize client results.
· Strong ability to train and manage time, motivating clients in a group setting.
· Desire and capacity to coach all fitness levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Required certifications: Required. CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification in personal training. Certificates, registrations, licensure include, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE, ISSA, or equivalent.
2. Maintains certifications and provides documentation of certification and recertification to supervisor.
