Service Technician
Description

The Service Technician installs, troubleshoots and repairs malfunctioning heating, air conditioning, cooking equipment and refrigeration units.   The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs scheduled maintenance inspections, and adjusts, cleans and calibrates various systems to assure proper system operations
  • Repairs wiring and electronic components.
  • Replaces expansion valves, compressors, motors, coil units and other component parts
  • Cleans refrigerant systems from enclosed burnouts, evacuates, and charges systems
  • Troubleshoots and repairs direct digital and pneumatic control systems
  • Checks distribution systems for proper velocity, volume, temperature, pressure, etc.
  • Determines cause of and corrects condensation problems
  • Provides technical assistance with installations and modifications to existing systems
  • Assists in training other technicians and staff in preventative maintenance procedures
  • Prepares and records information, procedures, and actions taken and in mobile system on specific Work Orders
  • Prepares and submits requests for supplies and equipment
  • Responds to emergency service requests
  • May supervise work of other technicians
  • Knowledge of pertinent rules and regulations, guidelines, safety orders, departmental operating procedures and safety regulations sufficient to ensure that work is performed in compliance with applicable law.
  • Follow safety rules/procedures; avoid known hazards in the work environment. Review safety procedures before beginning each job with known hazards. Places avoidance of injury or property damage above all other job requirements.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized service vehicle. Must keep the vehicle up to date on maintenance requirements. Must maintain an accurate part and tool inventory.
  • Makes decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and work on call on weekends and holidays when scheduled
  • Retain a strong ability to read, write, and speak the English language 
  • Have a basic understanding of mobile hand-held data entry and technology 
  • Mid to Senior level tech: must have previous training and experience in refrigeration, cooking and/or HVAC.
  • Mechanical Licensure, not required but preferred  
  • Agility: able to walk, stand, sit, squat, kneel, twisting, reach overhead and driving regularly throughout the shift (8 hours +)

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able and willing to climb a ladder and/or stairs onto multiple story roofs
  • Must be able to use hands with fine motor skills in the use of industry specific tools 
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
