Small Business Loan and Credit Analyst

This role is responsible for originating, processing, underwriting and servicing new transactions and existing credit relationships within the business loan portfolio, in addition to providing guidance in credit underwriting, portfolio management, policy maintenance and loan documentation of the business loan portfolio. Portfolio management responsibilities include monitoring performance and trends, completing annual reviews as specified in the small business lending policy, proactively defining member credit solutions, identifying issues, and recommending action plans. 


Responsibilities and Duties

· Update and track status of small business loan accounts, including credit facility renewals and extensions, delinquencies, and closing functions.

· Recommend approval, analyze, structure loans and collections of small business loans.

· Determine risk rating for each credit facility upon credit approval as specified in small business lending policy. Adjust risk ratings as circumstances as needed.

· Institute small business lending policies, practices, workflows, credit administration guidelines.

· Monitor performance and trends, proactively defining member credit solutions and identifying issues.

· Monitor credit performance of member portfolios and alert management to changes that may require action to ensure risk mitigation and minimize potential losses including monitoring delinquency reports, overdraft reports and property tax reports.

· Implement digital underwriting software program.

· Liaison with the US Small Business Administration (SBA) and ensure compliance in participation with all SBA programs.

· Communicate with small business members, including attorneys, title companies and insurance companies involved in the loan closing process to resolve questions regarding information submitted during the underwriting process.

· Communicate with the borrower and all associated parties to resolve outstanding issues with booked and closed loans.

· Tracks and completes commercial loan documentation and financial exceptions.

· Represents the CU at local business functions and industry events, to generate new business, project the CU’s involvement in the local business community.



Requirements

 

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance preferred.

· Completion of a Commercial Lending training program preferred.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook applications and other industry related software

· At least 5 years of experience in credit analysis and/or commercial lending, including business development and portfolio maintenance.

· SBA loan product knowledge and processing experience required.

· Experience with COCC Insight preferred.
