Summary:
The QC laboratory associate is responsible for performing quality control testing with rapid turnaround and accurate results, to ensure high quality of our cell culture products for our clients. The associate must understand the basics of molecular biology, cellular biology, and cell culture and will be responsible for job management following the completion of the production phase through the transition to shipment or storage. Successful job management will include performing tests in-house, preparing samples for outsourcing, accurate record keeping, and communication of results, knowledge, and product information to team members and clients. This position requires strong time management, attention to detail, organization, precise record keeping, and excellent communication skills.
Required Duties: (This list is not comprehensive, but it is used to provide general guidance. Other duties may be required.)
Oversee all cell culture jobs put into QC. This includes:
- Thawing frozen vials
- Performing counts for total cell number and viability
- Sterile sampling for testing
- Monitoring contamination
Perform Quality Control Tests in-house. This includes:
- Mycoplasma testing (PCR based)
- Interspecies testing (DNA extraction and PCR based)
Prepare Samples for Outsourced testing. This includes:
- Cell Line Authentication
- Viral Testing
- Generating Sales Orders
- Preparing fulfillments/shipments
- Review results and prepare client reports.
- Manage testing only jobs, independent from cell culture QC.
- High-throughput Mycoplasma testing
- Viability and Sterility Testing
- Cell Line Authentication Testing
Communicate job updates and concerns with Management, Client Services, and Clients.
Collaborate within the department as well as with other departments at ABS.
Adhere to SOPs and Work Instructions.
Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning.
Attend and participate in One-on-One, Department, and Company Meetings.
Participate in improvement projects within the department.
Position Requirements:
· Education: BS or BA or higher in biological sciences or equivalent field.
· Knowledge of cell and molecular biology required.
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills a must.
· Strong understanding of arithmetic and basic algebra.
· Experience with cell culture and aseptic technique, 1+ years.
· Experience with PCR, preferred.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
· Highly collaborative individual with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
