Materials Design Engineer
Hybrid
Description

QuesTek Innovations LLC, located in Evanston, IL, a leader in the field of Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME), is seeking candidates for a Materials Design Engineer in its Modeling and Software Group to perform work on scientific software development and integration of numerical simulation tools (e.g., FEM) with production level python software as well as delivery on early stage R&D projects to develop modeling and software tools from initial concept through prototyping and scaling to production. You will collaborate with our cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, backend developers, computational modelers, and project managers to deliver exceptional modeling and scientific software for the core of QuesTek’s cloud-based ICME software platform. This is an early career position for new or recent graduates, however experienced candidates are welcomed.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop python-based scientific software to integrate open-sourced and commercial numerical simulation (e.g., FEM) tools with QuesTek’s core software.
  • Collaborate with frontend and backend software developers to deliver functional software toolkits.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the highest level of quality and usability.
  • Develop finite element subroutines or kernels for re-usable simulations that can be wrapped into a python software package.
  • Work in a fast-paced innovative environment requiring creativity to deliver on challenging project and software deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and deliverables.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and provide constructive feedback.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will include competitive benefits such as short-term incentives, health insurance, and a 401(k). QuesTek will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States.
