Accounting Manager
Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Responsible for managing and supporting all accounting department functions and support of staff. Duties include overseeing the monthly close process, providing guidance to accounting staff, which includes general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions. Supports Chief Financial Officer as needed.


PRIMARY DUTIES:

1. Serve as back-up for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and provide support and oversight to the accounting staff as needed and/or during his/her absence. E

2. Oversee staff areas such as evaluations, train and develop assigned staff to help them grow and expand their knowledge of the department, new candidate interviews, hiring, and disciplinary actions, etc.). E

3. Assist CFO in developing, implement, managing, and monitoring all aspects of the department including journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, preparation financial reports and annual audits, ensure accurate and timely financial period closings, income recognition, receivables reconciliation and reserve schedules, prepare cash flow reports, maintain accounting system and its related modules. Approve monthly bank reconciliations, etc.). E

4. Ensure full compliance with policies and procedures and maintain accurate record and document reporting, account classifications, grant fund expenditures, incoming/outgoing documentation such as purchase orders, payables/receivables, etc. E

5. Prepare, complete, and submit items by due dates and timelines. E

6. Establish and maintain good communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all stakeholders. E

7. Attend meetings and professional development activities as needed. E

8. Perform other duties as assigned. NE

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed in office environments. Minimal local travel may be needed.  


REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University in Accounting, finance, or closely related field. Master’s Degree (Highly preferred).

2. Five (5) to seven (7) years of accounting experience. 

3. Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a leadership, senior, or supporting role overseeing and supporting accounting staff or closely related field.

4. Certified Public Accountant certification or willingness to obtain (Desirable).

5. Experience with Account-Mate or other financial/accounting software (Desirable)

6. Neat orderly person with great organizational skills 

7. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and able to manage multiple priorities.

8. Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written.

9. Must be a “People Person” with a great disposition and outlook on life, who enjoys working with others, is upbeat and pleasant to work with and is a good listener.

10. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.

11. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as needed.

12. Valid Wisconsin Driver’s license, state minimum insurance.

13. Must pass all background checks.

Salary Description
$68,780.00 to $76,020.00
