CNC Mills Machinist III or higher

CNC Mills Machinist level III or higher is responsible for manufacturing product to customer specifications and in accordance with all applicable PSP standard operating procedures (SOPs). This position also performs machine set-ups and break-downs.  This is a 2nd shift position, 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm. 

 
 

Primary Responsibilities: 

· Manufacture parts per customer specifications and in compliance with all applicable PSP SOPs. This includes, but is not limited to: maintaining traceability of product and material, using the ERP system, keeping tools and containers appropriately labeled, reviewing job traveler paperwork (especially for revision compliance and job specific notes), properly completing all paperwork, daily station cleaning duties, and segregating and identifying scrap parts and/or material.

· Inspect (under the microscope), measure and monitor parts per customer requirements and all applicable PSP SOPs.

· Communicate with team lead and applicable managers to ensure manufacturing, quality, tool life management and scheduling goals are being met. This includes alerting all applicable personnel of any issues or potential issues as they arise, as well as using   various communication logs and boards.

· Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspection on applicable machines. 

· Perform proper and complete station cleanings daily and on a job-by-job basis. 

· Alert appropriate personnel (supervisor, scheduling, and/or purchasing team) when material or tools are needed for a job, as well as when extra items need to be returned to stock. 

· Participate in audit preparations and maintaining an audit-ready work environment.

· Set-up machines for optimal machine utilization for manufacturing parts to print.

· Ensure set-up sheets are correct or revised for any changes made during setup (tools, fixtures, etc.).

· Ensure that the program is properly saved by the Shop Foreman at the conclusion of the job. 

· Break down machines to prepare for new set-ups when jobs/parts for manufacturing end or change. 

· When necessary, provide direction or training to team members assisting with set-ups or break downs.

· Immediately report any safety issues or concerns to your supervising lead.  

· Participate in risk management meetings when required.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Audit preparations and participation

· 6S Participation

· General maintenance and cleaning of area

· Occasionally attend meetings

· Sign-up for and attend required trainings 

· Assist with on-the-job trainings that may take   place in your department, including observations by colleagues

· Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:    

· Basic reading and writing

· Some advanced arithmetic skills required

· Ability to read, understand, and speak English   is required

· Three years of experience in machining or   related field is required

· Strong ability to read and interpret engineer drawings   and schematics 

· Ability to take measurements using a caliper,   micrometer, height gage, and optical comparator

· Manual dexterity required for operating   machinery and computers

· Ability to lift up to 30 pounds; more with   mechanical assistance

· Must be a team player

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions are normal for a   manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to   30 pounds. When on the manufacturing   floor, safety glasses and closed toed-shoes are required (safety glasses are   provided). Ear plugs are available and are optional when working around loud   equipment. The dress code is business casual. Upon request, a company smock may   be provided to those working on the manufacturing floor. Open food and drinks   are strictly prohibited on the manufacturing floor, shipping area, and   quality department at all times.
