Description

Job purpose

Responsible for a consistent, efficient and friendly beverage service to all guests. Responsible for the cleanliness, set up and breakdown before and after his/her shift of the bar.


General Hospitality Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain hotel’s Quality Customer Service standards and uphold the mission statements through the strict follow up of the Hospitality Rules.
  • Maintain and abide to time clock rules, report to work area on time.
  • Keep high grooming standards at all times and keep work area clean and safe.
  • Wear, maintain and follow uniform standards at all times.
  • Must become familiar and proficient in all aspects of the property, departments, locations, hours of operations, rooms, activities, etc. respond to guests accurately.
  • Use guest etiquette at all times.
  • Follow proper Handling Inquiries/Requests and complaints standards and maintain the guest satisfaction rule at all times.
  • Use proper telephone etiquette and answering techniques when answering the telephone.
  • Anticipate guest’s needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, at all times.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Follow proper emergency and safety procedures at all times.
  • Assist all disabled guests, catering to their special needs as much as possible.
  •  Handle all information given, with complete confidentiality and never to use any information to your personal advantage nor to the advantage of any other person or entity.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Familiarize yourself with cocktail preparation terminology
  • Prepare all drinks according to recipes
  • Consistently follow established garnishes for cocktails
  • Follow the call procedure
  • Know abbreviations for liquor orders
  • Follow and do all check list points
  • Check par list to determine shortages which need to be ordered
  • Check the bar, the environment and the equipment
  • Check juice stock, mixers, soft drinks, beer stock, liquor stock and wine stock
  • Ensure there is ample ice for anticipated business
  • Set up liquor, check glassware and prepare napkins and/or coasters
  • Provide responsible alcoholic beverage service
  • Handle bottle transfers
  • Check on beverage coupons of guests who are not on all inclusive plan
  • Follow alcohol awareness guidelines for dealing with intoxicated guests
  • Clean the entire bar area as you go
  • Empty trash
  • Secure bar
  • Set up and breakdown banquet bar, handle all service accordingly including outside catering 
  • Be familiar with the property’s fire and emergency program
  • Any other reasonable duties as required 


Requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages to guests.
  • Basic computer/POS knowledge.
  • Must be fluent in English.

Working conditions

This position works in the food and beverage environment with the usual considerations to space, lighting and air conditioning. In addition this position may do work in the field.
