Description
Position Overview:
The Volunteer and Internship Coordinator will be responsible for the recruiting and day-to-day operations of the Museum’s volunteer program. The Volunteer and Internship Coordinator oversees acquisition of and assignment of Museum volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator also conducts membership orientation and completes the on-boarding process for all volunteers. The Coordinator spends time on the floor assessing interactions with the public, and overall volunteer performance.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee general volunteer and intern involvement, including the training and scheduling of customer service volunteers.
- Assist in the training and scheduling Museum volunteer personnel and set expectations for performance.
- Ensure that all volunteers on duty maintain high guest satisfaction standards throughout their shifts.
- Work with internal departments to ensure that volunteers have up-to-date information regarding membership, marketing, and education opportunities and events.
- Ensure internship requirements are met, including reporting back to educational institutions.
- Assist in the implementation of retention strategies for volunteer personnel.
- Manage the Volgistics volunteer database and communicate volunteer coverage reports on a regular basis.
- Coordinate the volunteer services program museum wide including recruiting, retaining, and rewarding volunteers (i.e. find new recruiting opportunities, interview volunteer candidates, provide museum information and training through volunteer orientation, maintain volunteer hour incentive program, and work internally to ensure all areas have adequate volunteer coverage)
- Build and maintain positive relationships with all museum volunteers and staff
- Assist with volunteer communications and events (i.e. newsletter, luncheons, recognition awards, and appreciation events)
- Tracking and reporting of volunteer hours and contact information.
- Assist with the coordination of museum special events requiring scheduling of volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent required.
- Five (5) or more years of administration of a large volunteer program.
- Supervision of large volunteer teams or employee teams, preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside the organization.
- High energy and passion for The Wright’s mission.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- A willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends is essential.
- Experience using the web based Volgistics Volunteer Management System or similar volunteer tracking system preferred.
Salary Description
$40-$45k annually
