Excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual. Our company has 11 branches across Chicagoland with a fleet of over 40+ vehicles. We provide transportation services for elderly clientele. This position will manage everything related to the fleet. For the vehicles, this includes; third-party contracts, vehicle maintenance, gas cards, driver cell phones, fleet software, driver complaints, etc.


Universal Metro Asian Services (UMAS) is a Not-For-Profit organization that aims to serve immigrant populations of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe.


UMAS is a small, family run organization. The perceptive employee would need to have experience with that or have experience wearing multiple hats. In addition, perceptive employee should be able to work autonomously, be a self-starter, and have initiative and lots of follow through.


Roles and Responsibilities

Specific Tasks:

  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of the Fleet and fleet drivers
  • Supervise 40+ drivers
  • Monitor the fleet using software to ensure drivers are driving with caution as well as staying in their Geo-fence, ensuring there is no suspicious activity
  • Manage employee records of the fleet drivers
  • Manage driver complaints and ensure proper action is taken place as well as documentation of all complaint and remediation activity.
  • Makes hiring recommendations, identifies training needs and evaluates the performance of staff, ensuring adherence to company policies
  • Serve as a liaison to our third party vendors
  • Manage the usage of Fuel Cards, ensuring proper fuel is being used and monitor excessive usage
  • Manage comminution devices (cell phones) of the fleet and the contract with the third party
  • Manage car insurance and driver maintenance / repair activity
  • Manage building resource issues including; elevator issues, fire alarm issues, security alarm issues and working as a liason to third parties to drive issue resolution
  • Perform inspections of drivers and vehicles; ensures everything is up to company standards (i.e., cleanliness, maintenance, safety device and equipment, etc);
Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience: 1-3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Strong problem resolving ability required, with the ability to assist with complex problems in the field from a remote location
  • Computer skills required - familiarity with Microsoft platform, Outlook, and departmental programs
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral, written and presentation
  • Strong people management skills including talent development, coaching and developing high performance team
  • Self-motivated, creative, flexible and results driven
  • Ability to be a productive team member/player

Additional qualifications include:

  • Experience: Minimum 1 years working with Not For Profits preferred
  • Being fluent in Hindi/Urdu or Guajarati preferred
