Job Description:

The incumbent shall perform the functions of a Senior Aegis Technician and is responsible for:

  • Being well versed in ships configurations AEGIS B/L 5 through 9 as an advisor to the ships and Commander Naval Surface Group South West (CNSGSW) chain of command (COC) on casualty response, and system reconfiguration in order to be able to minimize system impact, downtime, and impact to mission readiness
  • Being required to track and report the status of all casualty reports (CASREPs) for the AEGIS Weapon System (AWS), and corresponding subsystems to include the status of parts, and coordinate with all stakeholders and higher authority in the procurement and shipping of them
  • Being required to track manning of ships as it pertains to readiness of the AWS and corresponding weapon systems
  • Being required to make ship visits to train sailors, both seniors and juniors, in the following areas: o Maintenance requirements and scheduling. o Ships electronic readiness team (SERT) and cross-system troubleshooting and best practices. o Requirements and best practices to complete ships' training cycles. o Proper documentation, cataloging, storage, use of critical test equipment, technical publications, software, and configuration items. o Attend “short” underways with ship during Basic Phase to conduct training on proper Total Phase & Power (TP&P) alignment.
  • Being required to attend ship scheduling meetings (DSRA, SRA, CMAV, and WOO) to assist in the deconfliction of maintenance requirements as it pertains to layup and restoration of ships' weapon systems
  • Being required to assist ships in preparation for major inspections, milestones, and INSURV
  • Being required to be present during all major inspections and events to provide feedback to the CNSGSW COC as to the trends and results of those inspections and events 
Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Active U.S. Security Clearance level Secret
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years working on Aegis in a technician role
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Able to travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has served onboard Aegis ships in the E-7+ pay grade (Chief Petty Officer, Combat Systems Maintenance Manager, Systems Test Officer, etc.)


Security Clearance: 

Applicants must have an active security clearance and/or the ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a DoD government-granted security clearance. Individuals will be subject to a background investigation to include but not limited to, criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.
