POSITION SUMMARY
The Camp Director will further the mission of Roundup River Ranch through the development and management of intentional in-person camp programming and residential life needs
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ensure that all aspects of in-person programming reflect the mission, vision, and values of Roundup River Ranch.
- Maintain compliance and best practice in all aspects of State of Colorado childcare licensing requirements, SeriousFun Children’s Network , and American Camp Association accreditation standards that relate to in-person programming.
- Direct the recruitment, hiring, training, management and support of full time and seasonal staff supporting program, cabin life, and food services.
- Ensure that Challenge course programming and protocols are being developed and led by a fully certified ropes course practitioner
- Coordinate and assess needs for scheduling, training and supervision of volunteers supporting program, cabin life and food services
- Direct and develop strategies for the development of intentional and safe on-site programming that supports the medical needs of campers
- Implement proven strategies and programs for the support of emotional, social, and behavioral needs of campers aged 7 – 17 and their families.
- Ensure that food service strategies and menu planning support the medical needs of campers
- Partner with foodservice staff to develop and implement food safety protocols that mitigate risk of health hazards associated with cross-contamination and food allergens.
- Ensure that all culinary preparation and storage areas fully comply with County & State health inspections on an annual basis.
- Partner with the Medical Director and Nursing Director to ensure the coordination of medical needs in all aspects of residential life and programming.
- Ensure implementation of necessary adaptations and modifications for the needs of the camper population being served. This includes special housing accommodations, program adaptations, and special diets.
- Coordinate with the Facilities Director to ensure effective site maintenance and housekeeping;
- Recommend modifications and capital improvements to activity areas, cabin facilities, furnishings, and utility services to ensure that these areas align with our mission and vision
- Coordinate with the Admissions team to ensure camper and volunteer recruitment efforts are coordinated to reflect site and residential capacities and medical and program capabilities.
- Develop and manage the program, residential life, and food service budgets.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all aspects of role, including all medical information and records.
- Serve as an ambassador for Roundup River Ranch at development, community, and recruitment events.
- Supports off-site and outreach programming as required.
- Serve as a property host by providing after hours support including carrying the gate phone, collecting mail on the weekends, keeping an eye out for emergencies, serving as on call after hours support, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Degree or experience in related field required (education, recreational therapy, recreation, child life, etc)
- Strong preference given to certified therapeutic recreational specialists
- Strong preference given to certified challenge course managers
- Minimum of three years management experience
- Computer proficiency and practical experience in word processing, database and internet navigation

- Special Conditions: This is a full-time, year-round position with significant time demands while camp is in session. The Camp Director is expected to be residential at the Roundup River Ranch campsite in Gypsum when Campers are on site and Camp is in session. The year-round camp office is in Gypsum at the camp site. This position also requires some on-call duties overnight and in between camp sessions. Roundup River Ranch believes in wellness and work life balance. The Camp Director will be scheduled for one or more nights off during camp sessions and time off in between camp sessions. During this scheduled time-off, this position is encouraged to leave site and enjoy time off, however, please note that when campers are on site, this position may be called back in the rare event of an emergent need.
