Description
The Nursing Supervisor RN serves as a member of the Nursing Department’s management team, which is dedicated to providing mission-driven, resident-centered care with top-of-market staffing levels. The Supervisor is responsible for daily department operations including oversite of shift, resident clinical care, staff management and personnel relations, visitor services and experience, and support as needed to other departments. This position is ideal for an experienced skilled nursing facility RN who is pursuing additional academic work (BSN, Advance Practice RN), or who has week-day commitments.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor nursing schedule and assign personnel to meet the needs of the residents.
- Function as a clinical resource, assisting and coaching the staff through nursing “best practice” guidelines in making clinical decisions.
- Monitor staff performance, providing coaching/counseling in accordance with NDHC policies, state and federal guidelines.
- Ensure the facility is managed according to policies, procedures, and protocols
- Ensure equipment is properly used and maintained as needed to meet the safety and security needs of residents and staff.
- Evaluate the quality of care provided to the residents as needed.
- Communicate directly with residents and family members as needed
- Ensures that residents in acute distress are stabilized and monitored until further medical assistance can be obtained.
- On an occasional basis, the Nurse Supervisor may need to work a medication cart.
Requirements
- Must have Management/leadership experience
- Current Massachusetts RN license
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience at a skilled nursing facility required.
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge of state and federal guidelines, OSHA regulations, JCAHO standards.
- Understands the particular concerns of caring for the aged population.
