Description

Under the direct supervision of the Gymnastics Coordinator, the GGC Gymnastics Instructor will assist in providing and maintaining a safe and age-appropriate learning environment for Students ages 0-14 enrolled in gymnastic and tumbling classes. Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in GGC classes. The GGC Gymnastics Instructor will assist in staging the instructional area, modeling creative movement warm ups, demonstrating basic jumps, assisting during stations, supervising during open play, engaging students during closing/stamp time, communicating effectively with parents and aid the Coordinator in resetting or clearing the floor when  Classes are complete.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Instructs gymnastics lessons in accordance with GGC guidelines, following lesson plans and daily schedules.

2. Adheres to gymnastics program requirements including safety and cleanliness standards.

3. Assists in maintaining a safe and age-appropriate learning environment per our curriculum.

4. Resets and sanitizes stations in an organized manner before and after each shift.

5. Greets each child and parent before and after class.

6. Communicates professionally and in a timely manner with Coordinator, Staff and students.

7. Models basic gross locomotor skills during warm ups and stations. 

a. Animal walks, Releve walks, Jumping, Galloping, Skipping, and Shuffling 

8. Demonstrates basic Gymnastics/Tumbling Skills during Warm-Ups and Station time.

a. Tabletops, Lunges, Levers, Donkey Kicks, Baby Rolls, Forward Rolls, Candlestick Rolls, Ninja Rolls, Egg Rolls, Baby Cartwheels

9. Offers students age-appropriate verbal praise, positive feedback, and acceptance while providing clear, consistent and developmentally appropriate expectations for students behavior.

10. Models and Encourages Students to develop basic classroom skills and socially appropriate behavior such as: lining up, listening to verbal directions, sitting during circle time, sharing, taking turns, and cleaning up. 

11. Conveys information on gymnastics/tumbling programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs. 

12. Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the GGC Community.

13. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).

14. Attends staff meetings and completes Annual USAG trainings as scheduled.

15. Follows all GGC Department policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be able to demonstrate and instruct gymnastics skills in accordance with GGC standards.

2. Enthusiastic ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse group of employees, members and volunteers. 

3. Positive attitude and the ability to work with children ages 0-14 years.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper gymnastics techniques. 

2. Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child. 

3. Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities.

4. Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency.
