The staff nurse, under general direction and in accordance with hospital standards and policies, will be responsible for coordinating and evaluating the nursing care for an assigned number of acute care patients; perform a variety of professional nursing duties, and do related work as required. Supervisory ability, good judgment, innovation, discretion, effective verbal ability, clerical perception, comfortable being assertive, interested and active in own growth, and willing to explore own behavior are all essential. Practices in regard to accepted Standards of Practice and Ethics. Must be flexible enough to adjust to staffing changes dictated by patient care requirements.

Requires clinical knowledge and independent judgment necessary to implement and direct individualized and comprehensive patient care. Maintains accountability for own nursing care and care delegated to others to assume adherence to ethical and legal standards. Requires high degree of interpersonal skill for effective communication with all personnel, clients and significant others. Ability to address patient/family education and discharge needs.

Must hold current RN license from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing. Previous OB nursing experience required. Able to provide nursing care requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill derived from the principles of the biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing science. Maintains BLS, NRP and other certifications required. Will continue to maintain competency by completing a minimum of 24 hours of Continuing Education Credit (CNE) courses within each two year period, corresponding to license renewal.
