Job Summary
We are looking for a mechanic responsible for inspecting, repairing, rebuilding, and testing electric motors and electromechanical equipment. This role ensures all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Repair & Troubleshooting
- Assess the mechanical condition of electromechanical equipment and determine required repairs or corrective actions.
- Perform mechanical repairs, including balancing, turning, undercutting commutators, press work, and minor machining.
- Inspect, diagnose, and replace worn or defective components to restore proper function.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes of motor failure.
- Check windings and install new leads as needed; assist with coil rewinding when required.
Disassembly, Cleaning & Preparation
- Disassemble motors and electromechanical equipment safely and in an organized manner.
- Thoroughly clean and inspect all components for wear, damage, or abnormalities.
- Prepare parts for repair, replacement, or reassembly.
Reassembly, Finishing & Quality Control
- Reassemble repaired equipment, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and performance.
- Paint and label completed units to maintain a clean, professional appearance.
- Conduct operational and performance testing to verify compliance with specifications.
- Accurately document repair work, test results, and observations on job sheets.
- Follow all company quality standards and inspection procedures throughout the repair process.
Equipment & Tool Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance on shop tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Report any equipment issues promptly to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow company safety policies and industry best practices for handling tools, machinery, and electrical equipment.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical repair, industrial maintenance, or a motor shop environment preferred.
- Familiarity with AC and DC motor repair is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with hand tools, shop equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, heat, oils, and moving equipment.
- Must be able to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work overtime and travel occasionally as needed
