Department Function: The Department of External Affairs engages with the stakeholders that make IFF’s community development work possible. It oversees grant fundraising efforts through philanthropic, corporate, and government sources; leads a communications program directed to our clients, partners, funders, and investors; and connects with government decision-makers on public policy that impact IFF’s work.

Basic Job Function
The Resource Development Manager leads prospect research, writing grant and funding requests, and leads grants management for IFF’s department and sector initiatives for funding in the Eastern, Southern, and Indianapolis regions and others as assigned.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads writing, development, and submittal of assigned department and sector initiative philanthropic and corporate grants. Coordinates with staff across departments to gather program narrative, financial budgets, impact data and grant externalities.
- Manages active grant portfolio for assigned core business and program and initiative grants. Leads on proposal development and submittal. Ensures assigned grants are documented through grant life cycle (i.e. recorded in CRM tracking system, contracts reviewed and executed, thank you correspondence sent, reporting and renewal dates entered into work plan). Leads relevant grant kick-off meetings and regularly meets with department staff to document progress on grant deliverables. Gathers content, financial and impact data from relevant departments to prepare funding reports for assigned grants and leads submission
- Assists with the preparation of assigned federal and multi-state government funding requests through content development, proposal coordination, research, writing, and editing large government grant proposals as scheduled, including CDFI Fund and others as determined. Works with relevant departments to coordinate content and financial and impact data for the proposals.
- Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing new policies, tools, and structures to improve the grants management process. Assists with the implementation and continued refinement of Resource Development’s broader suite of tools.
- Assists with Program Related Investments and annual narrative report requirements.

- Timely and effective performance of daily internal and external communication with IFF staff and clients.
- Meets all assigned proposal and reporting deadlines.
- Maintains clear and effective paper and electronic proposals, reporting and fiscal fundraising files.
- Works in collaboration with other staff to complete assigned grant proposals and reports.
- Efficient use of time and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Maintenance of all files, contacts, reports, and systems in a timely and accurate manner to assure ready retrieval of information.
- High level of initiative on projects and day-to-day work.
- Recommends solutions to identified issues and problems.
- Cultivates a culture of openness in information sharing. Encourages open communication, cooperation, and the sharing of knowledge.

Position Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent experience in a relevant position.
Previous Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience with grant writing, fund research and reporting required. Experience in and knowledge of nonprofit sector, community development, or early childhood education is strongly preferred.
Additional Requirements: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize among them. Ability to understand and manage complex information and projects. Strong oral and written communication skills. High level of experience with database systems, Adobe Acrobat, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to manage integration between various computer programs. Occasional evening and weekend work.
