This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), scheduled across four weekdays and every Saturday.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Care Team Specialist – Transfers is responsible for the safe, timely, and respectful transportation of decedents and related materials in support of funeral operations. This role ensures all transfers are completed with accuracy, professionalism, and dignity, while maintaining compliance with all company and regulatory standards.
This position operates as part of the Care Team and is cross-trained to support embalming and cremation functions as needed. While the primary focus is transfers, this role contributes to overall Care Center operations to ensure seamless service and team support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & OWNERSHIP
Decedent Transport & Care (Primary Ownership)
- Perform all transfers in a professional, timely, and respectful manner
- Ensure proper handling, identification, and care of decedents at all times
- Maintain dignity and professionalism in all interactions
- Ensure all transfers meet company standards and regulatory requirements
First Call Response & Timeliness (Primary Ownership)
- Respond promptly to first calls and transport requests
- Ensure all transfers are completed within required timeframes
- Communicate delays or issues proactively
- Maintain readiness to respond to changing priorities
Identification & Documentation Accuracy (Primary Ownership)
- Verify proper identification of decedents
- Complete all required documentation accurately and fully
- Ensure body receipts and paperwork are handled correctly
- Maintain compliance with all state and company requirements
Equipment & Vehicle Readiness (Primary Ownership)
- Maintain vehicles in clean, safe, and operational condition
- Ensure all transport equipment is available and ready
- Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Maintain readiness for all shifts
Care Team Support (Shared Accountability)
- Assist with embalming preparation and care center tasks as needed
- Support cremation operations when trained and assigned
- Assist with preparation, movement, and care of decedents within the Care Center
- Contribute to overall team workload and coverage
Safety & Compliance (Primary Ownership)
- Follow all OSHA, safety, and infection control standards
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintain safe handling practices at all times
- Identify and address safety risks proactively

Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Experience working with the public required
- Experience in transportation, healthcare, or funeral services preferred
