As a Seasonal Kennel Technician at Bark Ave Pet Resort, you'll contribute to the high standards of care we provide to pets in Boarding and Daycare. This includes getting your hands dirty by making sure our pet's play areas and kennels are clean and well maintained, providing snuggles and treats to make pets feel safe while their parents are away, enriching a pet's stay by recommending add-on services to the pet parents, and so much more! This seasonal position has the opportunity to turn into full-time employment. We are looking for team members with flexible availability to work both AM and PM shifts between the hours of 5am and11pm. Part-time and full-time hours are available. 

As a Seasonal Kennel Technician, you will: 

  • Provide team coverage on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
  • Supervise up to 25 dogs at once in a Daycare playgroup setting.
  • Spend quality one-on-one time providing enrichment and exercising dogs.
  • Splash around with dogs swimming in our on-site outdoor pool.
  • Perform temperament tests on new dogs for their admission into Daycare.
  • Maintain organization of pet's personal items: collars, leashes, bowls, toys, beds, etc.
  • Maintain the facility's high standard of cleanliness in the Back of House and Front of house areas: disinfect floors, sanitize kennels and play areas, refill mop buckets, do laundry, sanitize pet bowls, clean employee shared spaces, etc.
  • Administer medication to pets.
  • Prepare daily meals for dogs and cats per the owner's instructions.
  • Monitor the health and wellness of pets in our care, and report any signs of illness to leadership.
  • Document incident reports and details about pets and their stay in our Boarding software, Gingr. 
  • Take photos and write daily pet report cards to email to clients.
  • Offer an excellent customer experience to all clients at the Front Desk via in-person, phone, SMS, and email communication.
  • Check pets in and out, communicate details, and answer questions about a client's pet's stay, 
  • Use your Bark Ave expertise to answer clients' questions about Bark Ave services, sell packages, and suggest add-on services to enhance the pet's experience when in Boarding or Daycare. 
  • Suggest Bark Ave Grooming or Training services to clients as appropriate.

Compensation:

  • $16.00/hour 
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills. You enjoy working with people as much as pets!
  • Excellent organization, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs and continuously walk, stand, squat, push, pull, and play for a full 8-hour shift.
  • Basic pet care knowledge with 6mos professional experience working in vet care, pet care, or animal welfare.
  • Basic dog and cat behavior knowledge with 6mos professional experience working in vet care, pet care, or animal welfare. Must accurately identify the following behaviors in dogs and cats: fearful, shy, playful, and neutral.
  • Intermediate animal handling skills with 6mos professional experience working in vet care, pet care, or animal welfare. Fear-Free certification is a plus. 
Salary Description
$16/hour
