Job Overview

The lifeguard will explain safety rules to guests, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce polices on showers and proper attire. You will play an instrumental role in maintaining orderliness by inspecting swimming pool areas, showers, and restrooms. You will maintain pool equipment, monitor and record pool temperatures, and regular cleaning and testing of the pools.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled hours
• Regularly treat the pool with the correct amount of chemicals
• Regularly clean and testing of pools
• Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout shift
• Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions
• Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safe
• Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services if necessary
• Able to act quickly and appropriately to secure the safety of guests in the event of an emergency
• Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high standard of customer service
• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
• Able to follow routine verbal and written instructions
• Organizing and overseeing pool parties
• Maintaining a clean pool environment and equipment
• Attend and participate in regular trainings and department meetings
• Provide a welcoming environment for all guests
• Assist in concessions with running the register, prepare food, maintain cleanliness of the facility and grounds.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional recreational environment. This role continuously requires the employee to work outside in all weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, and wind. Also continuously works with others.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position of 32 to 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., this position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.

Required Education and Experience

• At least 15 years old
• 2+ years’ lifeguard experience preferred
• Current American Red Cross Certification Required or ability to obtain upon hire
• Current CPR / First Aid / AED Certification Required or ability to obtain upon hire
