Thomas College is accepting applications for the position of Lead Custodian. The Lead Custodian will ensure that the cleanliness of all campus buildings and facilities are maintained at a high standard. The position is hands-on, working with and supervising the daily operation of all Thomas custodial staff.


Responsibilities will be to develop schedules for all custodial shifts and provide guidance and direction to the staff as required. Conduct inspections and audits, ensuring that site safety and cleaning standards are being met and maintained. Monitor expenditures in accordance with the budget and recommend and implement cost saving strategies. Ensure that work is conducted in accordance with policies and standards and is completed on schedule within the established budget. Conduct in-house training for custodians ensuring safety, proper cleaning techniques, proper use of cleaning chemicals and supplies, proper use of equipment, injury prevention, and legal compliance. 


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.  Must have knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform these duties. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to work independently or with a team and maintain cohesion of custodial and supervisory team. Reliable attendance and diligence to the job at hand.   Must be willing and able to be on campus during any shift as needs arise.

The candidate must have strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to work independently or with a team and maintain cohesion of custodial and supervisory team. Reliable attendance and diligence to the job at hand.   Must be willing and able to be on campus during any shift as needs arise. High school diploma or GED is required. Two years previous work experience with demonstrated leadership and supervising abilities preferred. Basic computer experience is required with knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
