Description

The Controller at Apple Canyon Lake Property Owners Association (ACL) is one of the key direct reports to the General Manager. The incumbent will work in very close coordination with the Associations outsourced accounting firm and is ultimately responsible for all the accounting and financial aspects of a five-million-dollar annual budget.

Some of the specific responsibilities include the following:

Proactively advises the General Manager and Board of Directors on strategies to maintain the accounting and financial health of the Association.

Works in coordination with the Associations outside accounting firm to prepare the monthly financial reports and production of special financial reports in compliance with GAAP. 

Analyzes the monthly financial reports to determine both favorable and unfavorable conditions that warrant the attention of the General Manager and/or the Board of Directors.  Recommends strategies to address the conditions.

Prepares and monitors the annual budget to the Budget Committee, the General Manager and the Board of Directors.

Advises the General Manager regarding meaningful variances from Departmental operating budgets.  

Coordinates and provides information to external auditors for the annual audit.

Oversees and reconciles daily deposits from ACL departments.

Generates a biweekly payroll.

Maintains the chart of accounts.

Helps/assists in the preparation of the annual income tax return for the Association.

Supervises the activities of 2 direct reports including the Accounts Payable Specialist and the Accounts Receivable Specialist.

Advises the General Manager and Board of Directors on investment activities.


 

Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in accounting.

Five or more years of direct and full-time accounting experiences involving managing detailed transactions and banking reconciliations. 

Preferably has experience in developing an annual budget for a multimillion-dollar enterprise.

In depth knowledge of GAAP which has been gained by education and work experience.

Exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain confidential information and strong attention to detail.
