The Director of Physical Plant provides direction for all activities related to physical plant: care of buildings, grounds, contract management, maintenance and repair of all buildings, vehicles, and equipment. Direct and/or manage staff in special projects, including set ups and renovations of the Physical Plant. Work closely with and maintain good working relations with employees in all areas of the college. 


The selected candidate will be responsible for maintenance and custodial employee supervision, retention, training, safety, evaluation, and motivation. He/she will be responsible for capital improvements, operations, budget planning, preparation, and execution. He/she will evaluate and troubleshoot physical plant issues and devise the best approach to correct problems. Maintain and repair, as needed, all buildings, vehicles, and equipment. Considered an essential employee during emergency closings. 

Building Trades license preferred. Extensive knowledge of trades and current industry practices, knowledge of local, state, and federal laws pertaining to building and grounds safety practices. Demonstrated record of effective leadership/management skills, financial management, and administration in an environment of similar size, diversity, and complexity is required. Commitment to 

quality customer service, excellent communication skills, and practical personal computer skills.


Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in building and grounds management. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
